Brontë country, on the doorstep

Haworth's cobbled Main Street leads up to the Brontë Parsonage Museum, once home to the Brontë sisters, and out onto the moorland that shaped their writing. The Keighley & Worth Valley heritage railway runs close by, and the B3 bus from Sun Street reaches Keighley in 15 minutes. A weekend, if you want one ready-made: a moorland walk out to Brontë Falls and Top Withens, finishing with fish and chips at the dog-friendly Wuthering Heights Inn; a riverside walk to Hebden Bridge and its live music at the Trades Club; a ride on the Haworth steam train, a Sunday roast at the Old Sun Inn, and a look round the gallery (open 11:30–16:00 Sundays). Several dog-friendly pubs sit right on Main Street, including the Fleece Inn, the Black Bull and the Kings Arms.
